On October 16, 2020, detectives assigned to the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail arrested Ryan Cade for making criminal threats and for being in possession of an illegal assault rifle. On the afternoon of October 16, 2020, Camarillo Police Department patrol deputies responded to a call for service regarding criminal threats. Responding deputies learned the victim had recently been threatened by an unknown male subject. The threats were very direct, involved the use of firearms, and caused the victim to be in sustained fear of their safety. Due to the seriousness of the threats, detectives assigned to the Camarillo Police Investigations Bureau and Special Enforcement Detail immediately began an investigation and subsequently identified the suspect as Ryan Cade. Later this same day, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail detectives went to Cade’s residence in the 3900 block of Maple Street in the City of Ventura. Detectives were able to speak with Cade inside the residence, but he refused to exit his room. A short time later as detectives were outside the residence speaking with one of Cade’s family members, Cade walked outside. Detectives immediately attempted to detain Cade, but he quickly ran back inside the residence in an effort to avoid arrest. Several detectives followed Cade into the residence and were able to safely take him into custody inside his garage. Following Cade’s arrest, detectives served a search warrant at the residence and located the following inside Cade’s bedroom:
All the firearms were registered to Cade through the California Department of Justice. The current configuration of Cade’s AK-47 style assault rifle made it illegal to possess in California and met the requirements of an “assault rifle” as defined in California Penal Code 30515. At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives arrested Cade for PC 422(a) / Criminal Threats, and PC 30605(a) / Possession of an assault rifle. Cade was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility with his bail set at $250,000. Cade has a court appearance scheduled on 10/20/20 in Ventura County Superior Court. |
