INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: Japatul Road and Power Line Road, Lucerne Valley
18900 block of Shetland Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Gabriel Leon, age 22, a resident of Apple Valley
Patricia F. Gonzalez, age 52, a resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM: Jacqueline Amor Hernandez, age 24, a resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at approximately 9:40 a.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff's Station responded to a remote area of the desert on Japatul Road and Power Line Road following the report of a deceased person found in a shallow grave. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim and requested the assistance of detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division.
Homicide detectives, a coroner investigator and, a Sheriff's Crime Scene Specialist responded to the location to remove the victim from the location.
On October 8, the victim was identified as Jacqueline Amor Hernandez. Through investigation, detectives determined the victim lived with the two suspects at a residence in the 18900 block of Shetland Road in Apple Valley. Suspect Gabriel Leon was determined to be Hernandez's boyfriend, and suspect Patricia F. Gonzalez was Leon's mother. A search warrant for the residence was obtained, and members of the Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) served the search warrant and detained Leon and Gonzalez. Homicide Detectives interviewed both suspects. At the conclusion of the interviews, Gabriel Leon was transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 187 Murder; Patricia F. Gonzalez was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC32 Accessory after the Fact. The suspects remain in custody and are scheduled for court on Wednesday, October 14.
