Narrative:
On October 6th and 7th, detectives from the Moorpark Investigations Bureau, with assistance from detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit wrapped up a nearly month-long investigation by arresting Devon Fields and Mya Macias for a residential burglary that occurred in the City of Moorpark.

The case began on the morning of September 12th, when several residents discovered that their unlocked vehicles had been rummaged through and several expensive items of property had been taken from inside.  In addition, one of the victims realized that their attached garage had also been accessed and approximately $20,000.00 worth of property had been stolen from within, while the homeowners were asleep.

Patrol deputies from the Moorpark Station responded to the various victims and collected a significant amount of physical evidence, including video surveillance footage from several different sources.  The case was turned over to detectives from the Moorpark Investigations Bureau for follow up.  Over the next several days, detectives utilized a variety of investigative tools and techniques and identified Devon Fields of Woodland Hills, and Mya Macias of Chatsworth as the suspects.

On the afternoon of October 6th, Moorpark detectives, with assistance from detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit located Fields in a parking lot in the City of Northridge and arrested him without incident.  During the arrest, detectives located a significant amount of narcotics and cash, consistent with illicit drug sales, in the vehicle Fields was seated in.

On the morning of October 7th, Moorpark detectives located Macias near an apartment complex in Chatsworth.  She was also arrested without incident.  Later that day, detectives served a residential search warrant at Fields’ place of residence and recovered a significant amount of the property that was stolen during the burglary.  Both Macias and Fields were booked at the Ventura County Jail and are facing a charge of First-Degree Residential Burglary, Conspiracy and five counts of Theft from an unlocked vehicle.  Fields is also facing several drug-related charges.  Fields’ bail was set at $200,000.00, while Macias was released on $50,000.00 bail.
