INCIDENT: PC 29800- Convicted Felon in possession of a loaded firearm
PC 530.5-felony identity theft.

LOCATION: Wildwood Canyon Rd, Yucaipa and Holiday Inn Express, 72535 Twentynine Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms.

SUSPECT: Katherine Larrabee, 36 years old, resident of Yucaipa

VICTIM(S): Confidential elderly female and the Employment Development Department (EDD)


SUMMARY:
During an identity theft investigation of an elderly female victim, Deputy Tollefson learned the suspect, Katherine Larrabee, used the victim’s identity and applied for unemployment benefits through the Employment Development Department (EDD). Larrabee withdrew funds from the victim’s EDD account and deposited the funds into her own personal bank account. Larrabee collected approximately $22,000 in EDD benefits under the victim’s name. Larrabee was found to be a convicted felon and on felony probation.

Deputies learned of Larrabee’s whereabouts and contacted deputies from the Morongo Basin Station. Larrabee was located at the Holiday Inn Express in the city of Twentynine Palms. During a felony probation compliance check of the rented room, deputies located a loaded Ruger 22 caliber revolver and the victim’s fraudulent EDD card along with several EDD withdrawal receipts. Larrabee was arrested for PC 29800- felon in possession of a firearm and PC 530.5(C)(2)- Felony identity theft. A bail enhancement was granted and set at $150,000. Larrabee was transported and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
