Deputies arrest Gregory Pelle for assault with a deadly weapon and residential burglary

DATE/TIME: September 17, 2020/ 1:29 p.m.

INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Residential Burglary

LOCATION: 6000 block of Ocotillo Avenue, Twentynine Palms

SUSPECT(S): Gregory Pelle, 36-year-old resident of Moreno Valley

VICTIM(S): Victim 1, 38-year-old female resident of Twentynine Palms
Victim 2, 20-year-old male resident of Twentynine Palms

SUMMARY: On Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 1:29 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to the 6000 block of Ocotillo Avenue in Twentynine Palms following a report of a stabbing at the location. The suspect fled in a vehicle while deputies were responding.

During the investigation, deputies discovered the suspect, Gregory Pelle, was at the location when a domestic violence related incident occurred. Pelle was known to Victim-2. Pelle started damaging property on the exterior of the residence. Victim-1 opened the front door and Pelle entered the residence armed with a knife. Pelle stabbed Victim-2 while he was defending Victim-1 from being attacked with the knife. Pelle fled the location in his vehicle and was believed to be driving back to his residence in Moreno Valley.

Deputies located Pelle while he was driving westbound on Highway 62 near the intersection with Lear Avenue. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and Pelle was taken into custody without further incident. Pelle was arrested and booked into the Morongo Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and residential burglary. Victim-2 was transported to the Hi-Desert Medical Center, treated for non-life threatening injuries, and later released.
