INCIDENT: Attempt Murder

LOCATION: 3700 block of Porter Boulevard, Joshua Tree

SUSPECT: Joshua Vasquez, 22 year old resident of Morongo Valley

VICTIM(S): Confidential, 49 year old female resident of Joshua Tree
Confidential, 46 year old male resident of Joshua Tree
Confidential, 24 year old female resident of Joshua Tree


SUMMARY:
On August 26, 2020 at 5:59 a.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station responded to an unknown disturbance in the 3700 block of Porter Boulevard in Joshua Tree. Upon arriving on scene, deputies were met by the 24 year old female resident. The female was suffering from multiple blunt force injuries to her head and stab wounds to various locations on her body. Deputies entered the residence where they located and detained the suspect, Joshua Vasquez.

During the investigation detectives learned Vasquez entered into the home through a window, attacking the 24 year old as she slept, over a dispute regarding money. The 49 year old female and 46 year old male residents were also attacked by Vasquez after intervening during the initial attack. Vasquez was arrested for attempt murder of the victims and transported to Morongo Basin Jail where he is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

All three victims were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment of multiple blunt force trauma injuries and stab wounds.
