SUBJECT: Subjects Charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Weapons Offenses, and Narcotics

LOCATION: Asbury Avenue in Ocean Township
ACCUSED: James Gomolka 37 year old male and Krista Richter 35 year old female both of Ocean Township, NJ
NARRATIVE: On August 13th 2020, Officers responded to a residence on Asbury Avenue for a report of a welfare check. Officers met with members of DCP&P in order to perform a welfare check on the children who were residing at this residence. The officers made contact with the resident, James Gomolka, who was inside of the home. As officers performed a check of the residence, they observed several illegal items in plain view that were not properly secured and posed a danger to the children. The residence was secured and a search warrant was obtained. As a result of the search warrant, several guns, ammunition, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were recovered.
Mr. Gomolka was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Shotgun, Child Endangerment, Criminal Restraint, Possession of CDS, Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Another resident of the home, Krista Richter, was later arrested and charged with Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Shotgun, Child Endangerment, Possession of CDS, Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both Gomolka and Richter were transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute pending a detention hearing.
