On 8/8/20 Sgt Jimmy Holford observed an ATV operating on a public roadway through the downtown bar district. A traffic stop was attempted on W Milwaukee St at S Franklin St. The operator fled from officers and made numerous evasive turns. The operator lost control while making a turn and struck a tree in the 500 Block of W Holmes St. The operator was captured in the 200 Block of Cherry St after a short foot chase.
The operator was identified as 31-year-old Jordan Bonner-Nelson of Janesville. He was treated for minor injuries and held at the Rock County Jail for Fleeing/Eluding an Officer. The crash was investigated by the Wisconsin State Patrol and all traffic charges related to the incident were handled by them.
Follow up investigation with the registered owner of the ATV determined that it had been stolen in Janesville several weeks ago but that the theft had not yet been reported. Additional charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner Consent were then filed.
Bonner-Nelson is currently on Misdemeanor Probation with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Additionally, Bonner-Nelson has several open felony court cases pending deferred prosecution/sentencing. The charges from these open cases include:
Manufacture/Deliver Cocaine
Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place
2 Counts of Fleeing/Eluding and Officer
Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
Possession with Intent to Distribute THC.
