1 Arrested and 11 Cited at Novato DUI Checkpoint

Novato, Calif. – 1 driver was arrested and 11 drivers were cited while conducting a DUI checkpoint on August 7th, 2020.

The checkpoint was held at the intersection of San Marin Dr and West Campus from 7 PM to 1 AM.

1 driver was arrested for DUI and 11 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license.

Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As businesses reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
