Hurricane Isaias Update

Hurricane Isaias - Wednesday Morning Update

Yesterday between the late morning and the early evening hours, Neptune felt the impact from passing Hurricane #Isaias as strong gusts of wind toppled trees, blocked roads, damaged homes, and knocked out power. While we didn't see as much rain as the western half of the state, the strong winds were enough to leave more than 1,800 Neptune Township residences without power as of early Wednesday morning.

Power Outage Update:

• We strongly recommend that you continue to report outages directly to JCP&L by calling 1-888-544-4877, text OUT to 544487, and online at firstenergycorp.com. JCP&L has not provided us with any specific restoration times, and while they do have crews working in our area their current priorities are restoring critical facilities and repairs which can restore large areas. Individual homes without power (not entire streets/neighborhoods) are being advised that it may take several days for restoration. Please remember that Neptune Township has no control over power restoration, do not call 911 to report power outages unless you have an emergency.
• Residents running generators to power their home are urged to place their generators outside, away from any structures. Generators should never be placed inside your home, your garage, nor anywhere else enclosed even if doors/windows are open.
• JCP&L is providing free ice and water to those without power at Shoprite on Neptune Blvd, and at many other locations throughout the county.
• EMS and OEM staff are contacting those on our list who may have special needs or critical medical devices to ensure all needs are being met. If any Neptune residents who have a medical need and remain without power, please contact emergency services at (732) 988-8000 and assistance will be provided.
• Cooling and charging stations are available at the Neptune Township Public Library, located at 25 Neptune Blvd, and the Neptune Township Municipal Marina, located at 149 South Riverside Drive. Social distancing, masks and temperature checks will be required but these locations are available during normal business hours today. If you remain without power and are in need of shelter this evening, please contact emergency services.

Road Closures:

• Traffic lights remain out at RT 66 and Neptune Blvd, and Neptune Blvd in front of Shoprite. There are detours set up at these intersections, please do not drive over/around/through cones. NTPD officers are monitoring these intersections.
• Old Corlies Ave is closed between Wayside Rd and Hawthorne St due to downed power lines.
• West Bangs Ave remains closed between Neptune Blvd and Dale Pl due to branches hanging on wires.
• Brighton Ave is closed in one direction at Prospect Ave due to a tree down on power lines.
• North Riverside Drive is closed at Durand Rd due to a tree down on power lines.
• Beverly Way is closed at Elmwood Dr due to a tree down on power lines.
• Sycamore St is closed near Old Corlies Ave due to a tree down on power lines.
• Green Grove Road is closed between Squirrel Road and Brookside
• Other roads may be closed in some areas for repairs throughout the next several days. DPW is working to address trees, branches, and damage where needed. Trees resting on power lines must be addressed by JCP&L.

Please be patient, check on your neighbors, and contact emergency services if you need assistance. Remember to report any hazardous situations you may observe, such as downed wires, trees resting on wires, or any other emergent issue to 911. Updates will be issued as needed from Neptune OEM on Facebook, Twitter, and Nixle. To sign up to receive alerts via text message and email, text “NeptuneAlert” to 888777.
