NARRATIVE:
On Friday, July 31, 2020; Officers from Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) initiated a traffic stop in the 1400 block of E. Holt Ave. after they observed a seatbelt violation. Officers made contact with the three occupants of the car and learned the juvenile driver was unlicensed. Further investigation into the identities of the occupants revealed, David Rojas was wanted and had a NO BAIL warrant for his arrest. Officers also discovered that there were stolen access cards and large sums of US currency among the occupants. Officers suspected the occupants were involved in an identity theft ring. The occupants were found to be staying at a local motel. A search warrant was obtained and executed at the room where they were staying. Officers located approximately $40,000 in US currency, a loaded/unregistered firearm, an ounce of methamphetamine, and additional materials suggesting fraud/identity theft. Each suspect was arrested and charged accordingly. Suspect Rojas and Suspect Padilla were booked at the Pomona Police Department city jail. The juvenile suspect was cited and released to a parent.

The Pomona Police Department’s, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) is a specialized unit within the police department that is responsible for suppressing gang violence, investigating drug offenses and pursuing wanted persons. The team is comprised of two supervisors, five officers and two additional officers from the California Highway Patrol – Baldwin Park Office.
