An Apple Valley man is arrested after his 4-year-old stepson dies from ingesting a controlled substance

LOCATION: 21000 Laguna, Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): Logan Alan Pittman, age 4 a resident of Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Anthony Edward Williams, age 31 a resident of Apple Valley (stepfather)
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, July 23, 2020, at approximately 10:45 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station responded to St. Mary Medical Center following the report of an unresponsive four-year-old male, later identified Logan Alan Pittman, being brought into the emergency room unconscious and unresponsive. Despite life-saving measures performed by medical staff for over an hour, the child was pronounced deceased. Deputies learned that the child had ingested a controlled substance prior to being taken to the hospital.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail, were requested to conduct the investigation. Homicide Detectives interviewed the suspect, Anthony Williams, at the conclusion of his interview he was arrested, transported and booked for child endangerment likely to result in great bodily injury or death.
