Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the death of a male adult that occurred on the 5800 block of Holt Avenue in the City of Ladera on July 22, 2020, at approximately 11:30 PM

During the early morning hours of Thursday, July 23, 2020, Compton Station deputies located the suspect vehicle in the city of Compton.

During their investigation, a male Black 29 years old was contacted and subsequently arrested for the murder of Jakeil Reynolds.

Investigators are still actively working the case.

Investigators will present the facts of the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday for consideration of filing a formal complaint.

Due to the ongoing investigation we are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the death of a male adult that occurred on the 5800 block of Holt Avenue in the City of Ladera on July 22, 2020, at approximately 11:30 PM.

Detectives have learned that deputies assigned to the Marina Del Rey Station were dispatched to the location regarding a Disturbance/Possible shots fired call.  Upon the Deputies arrival, they located a male black victim in his mid 20’s who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. 

The investigation revealed that the victim was attending a party at a nearby residence when an argument ensued.  After leaving the residence, the victim was again confronted and got into a physical altercation with the suspect.  During the altercation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim multiple times. 

There is no known motive or any suspect information.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no other information available at this time.
