UPDATE: Deputies arrest Shea Pinney of Rancho Cucamonga for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated

DATE/TIME: Sunday, June 7, 2020, at approximately 3:18 a.m.

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Haven Avenue and Baseline Road, City of Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT: Shea Pinney, 35-year-old male, resident of Rancho Cucamonga

VICTIM: Warren Clay II, age 50 a resident of Los Angeles

On Friday, July 10, 2020, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of Penal Code 191.5(a), Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated.

On Thursday, July 16, 2020, members from the Rancho Cucamonga Traffic Division served an arrest warrant and, without incident, took Shea Pinney into custody. Pinney was booked at the West Valley Detention Center and is being held without bail.

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, at approximately 3:18 a.m., deputies assigned to the City of Rancho Cucamonga responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Haven Avenue and Baseline Road. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle driven by the victim on fire. At this time, victims' identification is unconfirmed, and next of kin notification has not been made. The Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. The victim was still inside of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on-scene.

Pinney was the other involved driver and drove a 1996 Lexus sedan north on Haven Avenue. The victim drove a 2016 Kia sedan west on Baseline Road. The vehicles collided in the intersection. Deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
