Wilmington Police arrest Newark man on gun charges: 
Wilmington Police have arrested a Newark man on gun charges.
On July 14 at approximately 6:45 p.m. members of the Safe Streets Task Force conducted a vehicle stop in the 300 block of North Van Buren Street. Police made contact with the operator of the vehicle, 25-year-old Dequan Fields of Newark. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and a 5.56 semi-automatic rifle. Fields was taken into custody without incident.
Fields was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon in addition to several traffic violations.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on his own recognizance.
