**UPDATE**Lancaster Station Detectives are asking for help with locating an assault and battery suspect.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, an elderly Hispanic male was assaulted in the bathroom of a grocery store in the 1000 block of East Avenue J in the city of Lancaster.
 
Lancaster Station Detectives are now asking for the public’s help in identifying two individuals that may have been involved in the incident. The first, a black male, is 20-25 years old, approximately 5’8” tall and weighs about 250lbs. He was last seen wearing a light colored sleeveless t-shirt, white shorts and a black mask with a design of white fangs. The second person, a black female adult, was last seen wearing a multi-colored patterned short/romper and a black face mask with red lips.
 
The male allegedly assaulted and robbed the 80 year old man in the bathroom. The female is believed to have accompanied the younger male to the store. Both suspects were last seen leaving the grocery store on foot.
 
We are asking for our community’s help. If you were in the area of the grocery store any time between 8:30am and 9:00am and saw anyone matching this description, if you recognize either person and/or know of anyone that wears these masks, please contact Detective Esswein at (661) 948-8466.

The victim was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where he is being treated for facial injuries and several broken ribs. Lancaster Station detectives and personnel have been in contact with him and his family and we are wishing him a speedy recovery. We would like nothing more than to bring justice to victim and his family.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Deputies received a call for service of an assault with a deadly weapon at a local grocery store in the 1000 block of East Avenue J in the city of Lancaster.
 
When deputies arrived on scene, they contacted the victim, an 80 year old Hispanic male, who told them he had been assaulted while inside the bathroom of the grocery store. The suspect, a Black male adult, repeatedly punched and kicked the victim then stole the victim’s wallet. Witnesses indicate the suspect left the grocery store on foot. The suspect is a 22-25 year old male, approximately 5’8” tall and weighing 250lbs. He was last seen wearing  a white t-shirt and blue shorts.
 
The victim was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital and is currently being treated for facial injuries and several broken ribs. This is an ongoing investigation and every detail will be thoroughly investigated, including the possibility of this being a hate crime.

Lancaster Station Detectives are asking for the community’s help. If anyone was in or near a grocery store near 10th Street East and East Avenue J around 8:30am this morning and saw a person matching the suspect’s description, please contact station detectives at (661) 948-8466. Our deputies are patrolling our city as we do every day and night and will continue to work diligently to ensure our resident’s safety. If you see something, hear something or have any information, please help us bring justice for this victim.
