Please look at the picture of allowed and not allowed and you will get a better idea. Please be safe and stay away from things that go boom as they can result in missing limbs and permanent injuries. On June 28, 2017 Governor Christie signed into law S3034 making New Jersey the 48th state to legalize the use of some form of consumer fireworks, specifically, sparklers and sparkling devices.
"Sparkling devices and novelties" mean:

NEW JERSEY STATE'S NEW SPARKLER LEGISLATION
On June 28, 2017 Governor Christie signed into law S3034 making New Jersey the 48th state to legalize the use of some form of consumer fireworks, specifically, sparklers and sparkling devices."Sparkling devices and novelties" mean:
- wood sticks or wire sparklers of not more than 100 grams of pyrotechnic mixture per item;
- hand held or ground based sparkling devices which are non-explosive and non-aerial, .which may produce a crackling or whistling effect and contain 75 grams or less of pyrotechnic composition per tube or a total of 500 grams or less for multiple tubes; and
- snakes and glow worms. smoke devices. and trick noisemakers. which include party poppers. snappers. and drop pops, each consisting of 25/100 grains or less of explosive mixture.
- The legislature has vetted these products that are now legal in New Jersey to ensure that the general public has safe, family fun.
- These· devices are now legal throughout the entire state of New Jersey to use, possess, store, sell or offer for sale to any person that is 16 years of age or older.
- Sparkling devices and novelties legally available in New Jersey are non-aerial, ground based or handheld devices that do not explode.
- Sparkling devices and novelties, including their sale or use, shall not be subject to further regulation bv any New Jersey municipality.
•Among the things that remain ILLEGAL in New Jersey are Sky Rockets/Bottle Rockets, Firecrackers, and other explosive devices.
- There are age-limits of 16 on purchases, meaning children are not allowed to use any device without proper supervision.
- The retail sales of these items must be in accordance with the standards set forth in NFPA 1124 standard for the Manufacture, Transportation, Storage and Retail Sales of Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles, 2006 edition.
