On 06/27/20, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail detectives concluded a four month long criminal investigation by arresting a Camarillo resident for numerous vandalisms that occurred within the City of Camarillo.
In February 2020, detectives assigned to the Camarillo Police Department Special Enforcement Detail initiated an investigation into numerous vandalisms that had occurred at different locations throughout the City of Camarillo. In one particular incident, a large area was spray painted in the form of graffiti tagging. The spray painted lettering was approximately 5 feet tall and 10-12 feet in length. This tagging was determined to be gang related and responding Camarillo Patrol Deputies collected evidence from the crime scene.
The evidence collected at the crime scene was processed by the Ventura County Crime Lab for DNA evidence. This resulted in a DNA profile of a male suspect. The DNA profile was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) which generated a “HIT” on the suspect, identified as Jorge Alfaro.
Based on the work done by the Ventura County Crime Lab, detectives were able to obtain additional evidence that implicated Alfaro’s involvement in several pending vandalism cases in Camarillo.
On 06/27/20, Camarillo Special Enforcement detectives located and arrested Alfaro at his residence in the 3100 block of Dwight Avenue in Camarillo. Alfaro was in possession of graffiti tools at the time of his arrest. Alfaro was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trail Detention Facility Jail for violation of two counts of California Penal Code 594(a)/Vandalism, two counts of California Penal Code 186.22(d)/Street Terrorism, and California Penal Code 594.2/Possession of graffiti tools where he remains in custody with his bail set at $100,000. He court date is set for July 14, 2020.

The quick resolution of this crime was due in large part to the expedient and professional work done by the Ventura County Crime Lab.
Graffiti vandalism is an eyesore that directly affects the quality of life in our communities. If left unchecked, graffiti can decrease property values and lead to the deterioration of entire neighborhoods. The removal of graffiti costs homeowners, business owners and taxpayers thousands of dollars each year.
