On Thursday, June 25, 2020, Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators, with the help of detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau, located and arrested Anthony Angel Knight, a  28 years-old, transient from Lomita.
 
Suspect Knight was arrested at Lomita Park during an undercover operation conducted Thursday morning.  Suspect Knight was arrested for the June 14, 2020, shotgun murder of Brian Morales, a Hispanic male resident of Baldwin Park.  The murder occurred outside the victim’s home in the 4000 block of Phelan Avenue.  The murder weapon, a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun, was recovered after the murder.  
 
This arrest was the culmination of an exhaustive investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau and the Baldwin Park Police Department.
 
Suspect Knight was booked at Lomita Sheriff’s Station for murder.  He remains in custody in lieu of 4.5 million dollars.  His arraignment has been postponed to an unknown date at Pomona Court.

UPDATE from Sunday June 14, 2020

Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing to assist Baldwin Park Police Department Detectives with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 19 year old Hispanic man. 
 
This morning, Sunday, June 14, 2020, at 3:13 AM, Baldwin Park Police Officers responded to a single family residence in the 4000 block of Phelan Avenue  in Baldwin Park regarding a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in progress.  Upon arriving, officers discovered the victim inside the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
 
The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. 
 
The suspect, a male Hispanic in his mid-twenties, was last seen running southbound on Phelan Avenue.  The suspect was armed with a shotgun. 
 
The shotgun (murder weapon) and suspect remain outstanding. 
 
This murder is being investigated as gang related.
