Narrative:

A SWAT team surrounded a house early Monday morning in the unincorporated area west of the city of Moorpark while negotiators tried to convince a Simi Valley man to exit the residence peacefully.

On Sunday evening, at about 11:27 pm, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a possible domestic disturbance in the 10000-block of Citrus Drive.  The caller reported Elroy Orduno was at his ex-girlfriend’s front door possibly armed with a weapon.

When deputies arrived, Orduno ran into the victim’s residence, creating a barricade situation.  The victim and two other houseguests were able to exit the residence safely and were not in the house while Orduno was barricaded.

Additional deputies with specialized training were called to the scene.  This included deputies from the SWAT team, Tactical Negotiation Unit, and the Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit.  Officers from the Simi Valley Police Department SWAT team also responded to assist.

During the almost ten-hour stand-off Orduno claimed to be armed with a rifle and threatened to shoot at deputies.  After several hours of negotiations, a nonlethal chemical agent was deployed into the residence.  Orduno immediately surrendered and walked out of the residence with his hands up at 9:24 am.  He was unarmed when he was taken into custody.

Orduno was arrested for stalking, unlawful entry, resisting an officer, and a parole hold. He was treated at a local hospital for a pre-existing injury and booked into Ventura County Jail.  His bail is set at $1,000,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on 7/1/20 at 1:30 pm.
