Narrative:

A married couple from San Diego has been arrested for three commercial burglaries in Thousand Oaks.

On 01/28/20, patrol deputies from the city of Thousand Oaks responded to two commercial burglaries in Thousand Oaks. The victims included a retail clothing company and an eyeglass store.   The burglaries occurred in the early morning hours, within a short distance of each other and appeared to be linked.

On 04/02/20, patrol deputies responded to a commercial burglary at a Medical Spa in the city of Thousand Oaks where a large amount of skin care products were stolen, along with a computer. Evidence collected at the scene led investigators to believe it was related to the two burglaries in January.

Detectives were able to track the stolen computer to a resident in San Diego.  A search warrant was conducted at the resident’s home and the computer was recovered.  Detectives continued the investigation and ultimately identified the two suspects, a married couple.

On 06/25/20, detectives from Thousand Oaks located and arrested Edward and Sarah Cruz at the Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon.  A subsequent search warrant was conducted at their residence in Vista, CA. During the search warrant, numerous stolen items were recovered from the burglaries in Thousand Oaks.

During the investigation, detectives learned Edward and Sarah were responsible for an additional burglary in Los Angeles County and property from that crime was recovered at the residence.  Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were contacted and advised of the discovery.

Edward Cruz and Sarah Cruz were arrested for 3 counts of PC 459-Commercial Burglary and 3 counts of 182(a)(1) PC-Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

Sarah is currently out of custody on bail and Edward is in custody awaiting arraignment.  Edward’s bail was set at $200,000.
