Citizens Help Officers Fight Crime

On June 26, 2020, at approximately 1:50am, citizens near Utah Street and 4th Street called the Fairfield Police Department to report hearing an argument and traffic collision in the area.  Additional callers stated one of the vehicles was leaving the scene of the collision and described the vehicle as an orange Dodge Charger.  Officers responded to the area and located a female that had been beaten up by the driver of the orange Dodge Charger.  Additional officers located the vehicle driving on Travis Boulevard, near the mall.  The driver attempted to flee the area, but lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the center median of the roadway.  When officers contacted the suspect, they discovered he was driving under the influence of alcohol.  During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm that the driver attempted to conceal inside the vehicle.  The driver was identified as Muhammad Abdullah, a 35-year-old Fairfield resident.  Mr. Abdullah is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Mr. Abdullah was booked into Solano County Jail for the following charges: Domestic Violence, Hit and Run, Evading the Police in a Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Convicted Felon Possessing a Firearm, Convicted Felon Possessing Ammunition, Possessing a Loaded Firearm, and Concealing a Firearm in a Vehicle.

For privacy reasons, no information about the victim or her injuries will be released at this time.  The Fairfield Police Department would like to thank the witnesses that called to report the crimes they saw.  This case would not have been solved without their help.  This case also illustrates the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as the dangers officers face related to firearms.

The attached photographs are of the loaded firearm located inside Mr. Abdullah’s vehicle.
