Deputies arrested three subjects in a stolen vehicle with illegal fireworks and drug paraphernalia

DATE/TIME: June 23, 2020 1:10 p.m.

INCIDENT: CVC 10851: Grand Theft Auto
PC 18715: Possession of Explosives
H&S 11364(a): Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia

LOCATION: 2300 Block of Needles Highway, Needles California

SUSPECT(S): Amy Moreland, 41 year old female resident of Bakersfield, California
Frank Brown, 40 year old male resident of Bakersfield, California
Ian Moreland, 18 year old male resident of Bakersfield, California

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at approximately 1:10 p.m. deputies located a stolen vehicle at the Circle K on Needles Highway. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects. The three subjects were detained, and subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large amount of prohibited exploding fireworks and several pieces of narcotic paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle, Amy Moreland, was arrested for CVC 10851, Vehicle theft and PC 18715, Possession of explosives. Amy Moreland was transported to the Colorado River station jail and booked for related charges without incident. Amy Moreland is being held on $500,000 bail pending a court hearing.

A passenger in the stolen vehicle, Frank Brown, was arrested for CVC 10851, Vehicle Theft and H&S 11364(a) possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Brown was transported to the Colorado River station jail and booked for related charges without incident. Due to the $0 bail order, Brown was subsequently released pending a future court date.

A second passenger, Ian Moreland, was arrested after a sheriff's record search found him to have an active, no bail felony warrant for burglary out of Bakersfield, California. Ian Moreland was arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail and is currently being held pending extradition.
