Sheriffs Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a Hispanic man in the city of Carson. 
 
On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, deputies from Carson Sheriff’s Station responded to a retail shopping center in the 100 block of Carson Street regarding a call of an assault with a deadly weapon. The call for service indicated a security guard had been stabbed by a shoplifting suspect. 
 
Upon arriving, deputies discovered two men suffering from apparent stab wounds. Both men were transported to a nearby hospital where one of the two men was pronounced dead. The second man was treated and is listed in stable condition. 
 
Investigators learned a security guard in the shopping center was alerted to two men who had allegedly stolen items from inside a grocery store. The security guard approached the men outside in the parking lot and a struggle ensued. During the struggle both the security guard and one of the suspected shoplifting suspects were stabbed. 
 
Investigators have determined the deceased man was one of the two shoplifting suspects. The second shoplifting suspect fled the scene. He is described as a Hispanic male in his early twenties. 
 
A knife was recovered at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
