A message from Chief Mattos/ Un mensaje del Jefe Mattos

Officers were able to contact property management company for the condos where the rope was found. They confirmed that the rope has been in the trees since before Covid-19, it was placed there for the kids to use as a swing. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety would like to thank the community members that brought this to our attention.

The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety responded to a message received at approximately 11:30 a.m. this morning, June 18, to investigate a report of a rope with a “noose” hanging in a tree in the 900 Block of Civic Center Dr. Investigating Officers located a rope with a loop at the end hanging from a branch. Officers attempted to determine why the rope was placed there and who put it on the branch. The rope was removed and placed into evidence.
The situation is under investigation as Officers continue efforts to contact possible witnesses.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety does not tolerate hate crimes, threats, or disparate treatment of anyone. As your Public Safety Chief, I will do everything possible to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all who live, work, and visit our community.

El Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Rohnert Park respondió a un
mensaje recibido aproximadamente a las 11:30 a.m. de esta mañana, 18 de junio, para investigar un informe de una cuerda con una "soga" colgando de un árbol en el Bloque 900 del Centro Cívico Dr. Los oficiales de investigación ubicaron una cuerda con un lazo al final colgando de una rama. Los oficiales intentaron determinar por qué se colocó la cuerda allí y quién la colocó en la rama. La cuerda fue retirada y puesta en evidencia.
La situación está bajo investigación ya que los Oficiales continúan los esfuerzos para contactar a posibles testigos.
