**Update** Looting at Target Store

On Sunday May 31, 2020, at approximately 10:43pm, Sun Prairie police officers responded to Target Department store, 660 S. Grand Avenue, for a report of approximately 10-12 vehicles in the parking lot with active looting occurring. Upon officers arriving, there were approximately 2-3 vehicles in the lot driving away. One of those vehicles struck one of our officer’s squad as he was arriving. That officer was not hurt.

A pursuit commenced with that vehicle and that vehicle was spiked by a DeForest police officer near the north bound on ramp at Interstate 94 at Highway 51. A high risk traffic stop was conducted and a 40 year old male subject and a 35 year old female subject was taken into custody. Also recovered was merchandise from the Target store.

This continues to be an active investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sun Prairie Police Department Non-Emergency Line at 608-837-7336, or anonymously at (608) 837-6300.

The two arrested subjects are identified as:

CASIMER D KIPTON, 020580, Madison. He was jailed and charged with Burglary and Felony Eluding. He was the driver of the vehicle involved in the pursuit.

LAVETTE L BROWN, 092085, Madison. She was referred as Party to a Crime to Burglary. She was the passenger of the vehicle involved in the pursuit.

The investigation revealed that Kipton and Brown’s vehicle was NOT the vehicle that struck our officer’s squad. We are actively attempting to locate that vehicle. The investigation also revealed that this looting incident was related to the events in Madison.
