A message from Chief of Police Jared Rinetti

Message from the Chief

On behalf of the Union City Police Department, I want to share with our community that we are truly saddened by the actions that resulted in the death of George Floyd. The men and women of the Union City Police Department are passionate about serving the community and recognize the value of serving from the heart. I am thankful for the trust and support we receive from our community every day, but especially during these times.

Please know that the men and women who serve are a part of the community and share in the same disappointment and anger that is being expressed throughout the nation. I understand the outrage at this time, but violent riots that injure innocent bystanders and officers and result in damage to businesses and personal property are counterproductive to the peace and unity we all strive to achieve.

The Union City Police Department expresses our condolences to the George Floyd family. We hope our community and country can come together in a positive way to listen, learn, and lead one another into a better future.
