On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau began investigating the circumstances involving an unlawful sexual relationship between a Saugus High School substitute teacher and his female student between the month of April and May 2020.  The victim disclosed to investigators that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with her substitute teacher, 28-year-old David Cornish.
 
On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, investigators arrested the suspect Cornish (BKG# 5940708) at his residence in the Santa Clarita area.  He was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Station for Lewd Acts with a Minor, 288 (c)(1) PC, and Oral Copulation with a Minor, 287 (b)(2) PC, and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
 
The investigation is on-going, and no further information is being released at this time.
