Green Bay Police arrest suspect in the South Oakland Avenue Shooting
On Friday, May 22nd at around 11:00 pm, a shooting occurred on South Oakland Avenue near Seymour Park. During the incident one individual was shot in the leg and sustained a serious injury resulting in his hospitalization.
This morning the Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) arrested the suspect in that shooting after he turned himself in at GBPD Headquarters. Investigators worked over the Memorial Day weekend piecing together the events that lead to the shooting. This morning officers and investigators from the GBPD served a search warrant on the 500 block of 12th avenue looking for the suspect. The suspect Muhammad Rahem Hoskins age 26 was not at the location of the search warrant but later turned himself in at police HQ. Hoskins is currently being held at the Brown County Jail and it is anticipated that he will have a preliminary hearing Thursday or Friday where bail will be set.
Investigators are recommending charges to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office of:
Attempted First Degree Homicide
Recklessly Endangering Safety
Felon in Possession of a Firearm
“The message is clear-If you commit a crime with a firearm in Green Bay we will hunt you down and arrest you,” said Police Chief Andrew Smith. “Our officers and detectives are relentless in the pursuit of violent lawbreakers-you are going to be held to account for the things you’ve done.”
