Kiefer Sunderland of Needles is arrested for Criminal Threats and Brandishing a Weapon

SUSPECT(S): Sunderland, Kiefer, 30 years old resident of Needles

SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 23rd, at about 7:21 AM, deputies responded to the area of Jack Smith Park in Needles following the report of a disturbance.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with a number of citizens. During the investigation, it was determined the suspect, Kiefer Sunderland, had pointed a knife at two people and threatened the life of at least one person. Deputies learned the incident took place along the beach area of the Colorado River at about 7:10 AM, and that the actions of Sunderland appeared to have been unprovoked.
Sunderland was contacted by deputies and placed under arrest for PC 422, Criminal Threats and PC 417, Brandishing a Deadly Weapon. A knife was located and recovered from the scene. Sunderland was transported to the Colorado River jail for booking. Sunderland is to be held with a bail amount of $50,000, pending a court hearing.
