Stabbing Suspect Arrested
Suspect: Dennis Rodriguez, 32-year-old male (In-custody)
On Wednesday, May 20th, 2020, at approximately 00:33 AM, Redwood City Police Dispatch received a 911 call of a reported stabbing in the 1600 block of Broadway. Officers responded to the scene and located the victim, a 41-year-old male, in the rear parking lot of America’s Tire, located at 1610 Broadway. The victim told officers he was walking through the parking lot when the suspect approached and attacked him without provocation, stabbing him in the neck and on the hand. The victim was transported to Stanford Hospital and underwent emergency surgery for his injuries.
While officers were conducting a neighborhood canvass and obtaining witness statements, the suspect, identified as Dennis Rodriguez, was observed walking near the scene, and was positively identified by a witness, who had been working on a car in the parking lot at the time of the attack. Rodriguez was contacted by officers and subsequently arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury. The weapon used to stab the victim has not been located.
