Narrative:
On 05-10-20, at approximately 0450 hours, Headquarters patrol deputies were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance call at a residence in the 1000 block of Will Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male subject, later identified as Alex Castro, run from an area near the front yard to the garage and then to the rear yard. As deputies pursued Castro towards the garage, they located a female bleeding from the face. Deputies identified the female as being in a domestic relationship with Alex. Deputies learned Alex had battered the female and there was probable cause to arrest Alex for domestic violence.

Deputies continued their pursuit after Alex into the rear yard. Upon entering the rear yard, deputies observed that a sliding glass door leading into the residence had been shattered and presumed Alex had entered the residence. Deputies made several announcements, but there was no response from inside the residence.

Alex was known to deputies as having an extensive criminal history including prior arrests for firearms violations.  He was also was currently out on bail for weapons and narcotic charges.

Deputies began searching the residence for Alex with the help of the Sheriff’s K-9 but he was not located inside the residence.

As deputies continued to search for Alex, they located him attempting to hide on the roof of the residence.  Several commands were given to Alex to comply with deputies, but he refused.  Deputies deployed 40mm rubber baton rounds at Alex striking him twice.  The baton rounds had the desired effect and Alex complied with commands.  Alex was taken into custody without further incident.

During a subsequent search by deputies in the area where Alex was hiding, they found 19 grams of methamphetamine and a fully loaded AR-15 rifle.

Alex was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12, 2020, at 1:30 P.M.
