Narrative: | |||||
On May 6, 2020, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation and arrested Veronica Cruz-Olivera of Los Angeles for her involvement in the sales and distribution of heroin destined for Ventura County. In April 2020, detectives obtained information indicating Cruz-Olivera from Los Angeles was involved in the distribution and sales of heroin. During the investigation, detectives were able to confirm Cruz-Olivera’s narcotics sales activity, which included the distribution of heroin, was destined for the City of Moorpark. Detectives subsequently obtained a signed search warrant for Cruz-Olivera’s residence located in the 1400 Block of Federal Avenue in Los Angeles. On May 6, 2020, detectives with the Narcotics Street Team, Special Crimes Unit and members of the National Guard Counterdrug Task Force conducted surveillance at Cruz-Olivera’s residence and subsequently served a search warrant at her residence. During a search of the residence, detectives located approximately 6,276 grams (13.6 pounds) of heroin and U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from narcotic sales. Based on the investigation, detectives arrested Cruz-Olivera for violation of Health and Safety Code sections 11351 and 11352-Possession for sale/transportation and sales of controlled substances. Deputies from the Moorpark police station booked Cruz-Olivera at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and she was later released on bail. The heroin seized has an estimated street value between $376,000 and $502,000. Heroin is a contributor to both fatal and non-fatal overdoses taking place in Ventura County. The Narcotics Unit is committed to aggressively target narcotics sales and help combat opiate overdoses in Ventura County. The Narcotics Street Team is comprised of Narcotic Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Oxnard Police Department. The California National Guard-Counterdrug Task Force works closely with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and provides resources directed at narcotic enforcement efforts throughout Ventura County. |
