GOVERNOR’S STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EFFECTIVE THROUGH APRIL 30
We are starting our fifth week since Governor Pritzker declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19. There is hope we are flattening the curve. Discussion both locally and nationally is occurring as we speak about how and when normalcy may return. Although Illinois is not testing quite at the daily rate the Governor had hoped (10,000/day), it appears that reports of COVID-19 cases and deaths is leveling off in Illinois and in nearby states such as Wisconsin. As for Burr Ridge, positive cases on the Cook side have remained at six for several consecutive days. The DuPage side has seen an increase to 29 - for a total count of 35 Village-wide cases. We should remain hopeful that stay-at-home is working. Our playgrounds remain closed and the CDC and IDPH are each recommending that we all wear masks if we must interact with the public.
Remember: “The Cure is US.” Practice social distancing, wash your hands with hot water and plenty of foaming soap – and most importantly, continue to stay home.
With this in mind, Anabel McFarlin, President of Carriage Way Property Owners Association is helping to spread the word about Susan Clausen’s work to fill the need for masks. Susan is a Burr Ridge resident and employee of Loyola Burr Ridge who is asking residents to sew masks at home and donate them to medical professionals. Anabel and CWPOA are helping Susan to get the word out to residents with sewing machines who are willing and able to make homemade masks. The homemade masks will be used by medical professionals and workers such as administrative and cleaning staff, etc. If you can help, contact Susan at (847)-924-3986 or email her at [email protected]. There are instructions on how to make masks on www.burr-ridge.gov.
Our Police Department is offering birthday party “drive by’s” for children who have had their parties affected due to the Governor’s SAH order. BRPD officers will drive past your house with lights and sirens activated so everyone in your neighborhood knows it’s your child’s birthday and brighten their day! This public service is for children ages 2-12 from now through April 30th, 9am5pm (Mon- Fri), subject to available police resources. To schedule a birthday drive-by, please contact BRPD Officer Robert Wirth at [email protected] or (630) 654-8181 ext. 5395.
The Village Board will be conducting its meeting via video conferencing this evening at 7:00 pm. If you wish to attend, go to the village webpage www.burr-ridge.gov and find the agenda.
