The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Randolph County in northeastern West Virginia... Pocahontas County in northeastern West Virginia... Nicholas County in southeastern West Virginia... Lewis County in northern West Virginia... Braxton County in north central West Virginia... Upshur County in northeastern West Virginia... Webster County in northeastern West Virginia... East central Clay County in north central West Virginia... Barbour County in northeastern West Virginia...

* Until 300 AM EDT.

* At 203 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles west of Stonewall Jackson to 6 miles north of Babcock State Park, moving east at 60 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include... Elkins, Buckhannon, Weston, Summersville, Philippi, Richwood, Marlinton, Sutton, Audra State Park, Greenbank, Webster Springs, Cass Scenic Railroad, Belington, Gassaway, Addison (Webster Springs), Mill Creek, Camden-On-gauley, Snowshoe, Dailey and Birch River. This includes the following highways... Interstate 79 between mile markers 54 and 104. Route 19 between mile markers 31 and 68. Route 33 between mile markers 1 and 35.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WEBSTER, WV ... POCAHONTAS, WV ... LEWIS, WV ... BARBOUR, WV ... UPSHUR, WV ... BRAXTON, WV ... CLAY, WV ... NICHOLAS, WV ... RANDOLPH, WV

Instructions:

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM EDT for southeastern, north central and northeastern West Virginia. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
