UPDATE:,The Coroner's Office identified the victim of the shooting as 16-year-old Abraham Ali Romero of Delano. Romero died on April 9, 2020 at the hospital after the shooting on April 7.

On April 7, 2020, at 5:37 p.m., deputies from the Delano Substation responded to a call of a shooting in the 700 block of Anita Avenue. Deputies arrived and located a shooting victim, a 16-year-old male, lying in the driveway of a vacant residence. The victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries.
