SCPD Police Blotter for the week of March 29, 2020

Based on the March 31, 2020, mandatory orders from Santa Clara County Public Health, the City of Santa Clara has implemented many service level changes, limited to essential services. Since the preparation and distribution of a Police Blotter is not an essential service, it will be produced as resources are available until further notice.

Grand Theft Location: 3900 Block of Rivermark Plaza
An unknown subject entered a store on the 3900 block of Rivermark Plaza.

While the employee was distracted, the subject stole an Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, valued at $1260, from the register counter and left the store without paying. The subject fled the area.

There was approximately a one-hour delay from the incident until the time Public Safety Dispatchers were contacted. The subject is unknown and remains outstanding.

Monday, March 30, 2020
Residential Burglary Location: 2300 Block of Kay Drive
Between 1400 hours and 1515 hours, an unknown subject(s) broke a sliding glass door and entered a residence on the 2300 block of Kay Drive. The subjects stole jewelry, household appliances, wallet, driver’s license, cash, credit cards, checks, gift cards, keys, etc. There is no suspect information currently.

Tuesday, March 31, 2020
Assault Location: Central Park, 909 Kiely Boulevard
A reporting party witnessed an incident of domestic violence in Central Park and contacted Public Safety Dispatchers.

Arriving officers established a perimeter around Central Park while the crime was being investigated. The victim confirmed the male subject was her husband. A Records check revealed the subject was on probation for domestic violence and a restraining order exists, with peaceful contact, between husband and wife. A description of the subject was broadcast in an attempt to locate the subject.

An officer located a subject matching witness descriptions in the creek bed which runs through the park. The subject did not obey officer orders and led multiple officers on a lengthy foot pursuit (Case Number 20-331160). The subject was ultimately apprehended. At that time, a Records check revealed the subject that ran from police was not involved in the incident of domestic violence in Central Park.

The domestic violence subject was not located. This case has been referred to the Investigation Division for follow-up.

Resisting Arrest Location: 1900 Block of Warburton Avenue
Officers were in Central Park investigating an incident of domestic violence (Case Number 20-331128), when a male subject matching witness description was located in the creek bed.

The subject did not obey officer orders and led multiple officers on an approximate two-mile foot pursuit through the creek bed, across expressways and into residential neighborhoods. The subject then made unlawful entry into the backyards of multiple residents. The subject was ultimately located on the roof a detached garage on the 1800 block of Scott Boulevard. The subject continued to resist officers' attempts to take him into custody and a Police Service Dog was utilized to apprehend the subject.

The San Jose Police Department’s helicopter was airborne nearby and was instrumental in assisting our officers on the ground.

A Records check revealed the subject was not the individual involved in the incident of domestic violence in Central Park. However, the subject did have a $25,000 misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Two officers sustained injuries as a result of this incident.

Commercial Burglary Location: 100 Block of Washington Street
At approximately 0104 hours, a business on the 100 block of Washington Street was burglarized.

The subject used a key to enter the business through the front door and locked the door after exiting. While inside the subject used an access code to enter the safe and stole $155 and two packs of cigarettes. The subject remains at large.

Thursday, April 2, 2020
Robbery Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
An individual arranged a meeting on the 2000 block of El Camino Real to sell two pairs of shoes.

Three subjects arrived to meet the seller. During the meeting, two of the suspects pointed handguns at the victim while the third suspect took the shoes from the victim. The subjects fled the scene.

Officers detained a vehicle matching the victim’s description nearby. The vehicle was occupied by five individuals; three male and two female subjects. Two male adults and one male juvenile were positively identified by the victim and arrested. The property was recovered.

The two juvenile female subjects were issued a Juvenile Crime Report and were released to their parent/guardian. The adult subjects were transported to the Santa Clara County Jail and the male juvenile was taken to Juvenile Hall.

Petty Theft Location: 1600 Block of Coleman Avenue
Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Coleman Avenue regarding an in-progress theft.

The subject placed merchandise into bags and exited the business without attempting to pay for the items. Loss Prevention employees confronted the subject, who dropped the items and fled on foot.

Arriving officers located a subject matching the reporting party’s description. He was arrested. The merchandise was recovered and was valued at $607.96.

Residential Burglary Location: 1900 Block of Hillebrant Place
At approximately 1920 hours, a burglary was discovered on the 1900 block of Hillebrant Place.

An unknown subject(s) entered the victim's garage and ransacked the vehicles. No items were taken. The subject(s) remain at large.
