* Parking Enforcement Update *
As of Tuesday, April 7th, the City of San Mateo will be modifying how parking is enforced as our community works its way through the COVID-19 health crisis. We understand the effects of this pandemic and the stressors that come along with it. We want to encourage San Mateans to remain in their homes as much as possible, only leaving for essential needs.
Parking enforcement efforts will be temporarily suspended for the following:
* All metered parking enforcement
* All street sweeping enforcement
* All residential parking permits
* Expired registration
Parking enforcement will continue for the following, but not limited to:
* Construction zones
* Red zone
* Fire hydrants
* Parking in a crosswalk
* Blocking a handicapped access ramp
* Parking on a sidewalk
* Parking in a handicapped zone
* Parked facing the wrong way
* Blocking a driveway
With regard to abandoned vehicle abatement, we will continue to monitor this complaint driven issue. Our parking representatives will follow-up on each complaint and make every effort to locate the owner in an attempt to remind residents of the 72-hour parking rule. Should the owner not be located, representatives will mark the vehicle for the violation.
If sheltering in place, the owner may contact our abandoned vehicle hotline to have the warning removed, otherwise the enforcement will stand. When calling, please include your name, phone number, vehicle description with license plate, and date, time and location of the vehicle at the time of the warning. The Abandoned Vehicle Hotline is (650) 522-7766.
