NOW HIRING - Communications Center Operations Manager
$140,724 - $182,112 * annually, plus excellent benefits
*Three-year Memorandum of Understanding, with annual salary increase, being considered by the City Council in April / May, 2020
The City of Santa Clara is seeking a highly-skilled individual to lead the Communications Center, its’ employees, daily operations, technology and projects. Applicants should value people and lifelong learning, have solid leadership and management experience, a highly technical skill set and the professionalism to work as a member of the management team.
The Communications Center is located in the Police Building and has state-of-the-art equipment. The Center is allocated 23 employees (5 Senior Public Safety Dispatchers; 17 Public Safety Dispatchers; 1 Communications Technician) to dispatch emergency and non-emergency police, fire, paramedics/ambulance including emergency medical dispatching, and maintain the City’s portable radios. In 2019, Public Safety Dispatchers fielded 179,736 calls into the Communications Center, resulting in 61,931 police calls for service and 9,794 fire calls for service. An additional 62 texts were received via Text-to-9-1-1. The Communications Center has an on-duty treadmill and the Police Building has two gyms - cardio/weight and CrossFit style.
Applicants considered for appointment to this position will be subject to a thorough background investigation (consisting of, but not limited to, criminal history, Department of Justice and FBI fingerprinting, DMV driving history, credit check, previous/current employment references, personal references, etc.), a polygraph exam and a psychological exam.
