Malibu City Hall is closed. However, essential City staff, including the Emergency Operations Team, are working. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated on March 13 and is operating 7 days a week. CITY OF MALIBU & CORE OFFER FREE CORONAVIRUS DRIVE-THROUGH TESTING FOR FIRST RESPONDERS & ESSENTIAL WORKERS
The City of Malibu is partnering with the Los Angeles-based, global non-profit organization Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) and local medical providers to provide free novel coronavirus (COVID-19) drive-thru testing for first responders and essential workers in the Malibu community Monday, April 6 through Saturday, April 11 at City Hall.

Phase 1 – Monday, April 6 and Tuesday April 7, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM - Free testing provided only for first responders and essential workers serving the community in Malibu, including firefighters, law enforcement, lifeguards, medical professionals, and individuals working in Malibu grocery stores, pharmacies, and other local essential businesses. Pre-registration is requested, but not required.

Phase 2 – Wednesday, April 8 through Saturday, April 11, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM - Testing will be provided for residents in the greater Malibu community. Pre-registration is required. The testing organization asks that only those with COVID-19 symptoms pre-register. They can use their insurance or their insurance will be billed. No onsite payments will be accepted. They will be asked about symptoms onsite. This is meant to ensure that those with the highest need are prioritized for testing.

Dr. Lisa Benya, who runs Malibu Medical Group, is serving as the lead doctor who will supervise the testing. The testing service is carried out by COVID Clinic, a local partner organization of CORE.

The tests will be conducted using a Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved nasal swab with an expected two-day turnaround for results. Those being tested will drive through the upper parking lot at Malibu City Hall. Drivers will be instructed on the steps of the highly secure process when they arrive.

LA COUNTY GUIDANCE FOR CLOTH FACE COVERINGS
The Los Angeles County Dept of Public Health provides public health information on how members of the general public can safely use cloth face coverings when they need to leave their home for a short period of time to obtain essential goods or services. Los Angeles County is making Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing available at several locations in the County, strictly limited to County residents who are in the most high-risk categories and most vulnerable. For people who prefer not to visit a drive-through test center, there are a limited number of tests available at a walk-in clinic. CORONAVIRUS PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE
The City of Malibu continues to monitor the status of the Coronavirus and implement measures to protect public health and safety and is doing everything possible to support vulnerable community members.  The City continues to follow the recommendations of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH), California Office of Emergency Services (CALOES) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and is taking steps to reduce the likelihood of community spread. 

All Residents should be complying with the State’s “Stay at Home” order, and leaving their homes only to conduct essential business, such as grocery shopping, medical appointments. When it is necessary to go out in public for essential business, residents are recommended to wear cloth face coverings to help prevent the spread of the virus. Residents should also connect with neighbors, particularly seniors or those with underlying health conditions, to see if they need help in any way.
