This is a message from Mayor Peluso.
 
Fair Lawn currently has 180 positive cases of the COVID-19 virus. All individuals from Fair Lawn are hospitalized or self-quarantined or self-isolated at this time.
 
All of our emergency responders continue to provide services 24 hours a day – 7 days a week.
 
Due to the pandemic, meals on wheels needed assistance with deliveries.  Our Fire Department, Rescue Squad and Borough employees have taken the lead to make sure over 100 of our seniors will receive their weekly meals.  
 
The Center for Disease Control is now strongly recommending that you cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.  Scarves, bandannas, turtlenecks and home-sewn masks are all acceptable.  
 
You should wear a cloth face cover when you have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities or where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. 
 
Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing.
 
The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
 
Do NOT use a facemask meant for healthcare workers.
 
Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others.  The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.
 
We recognize trips to the market, pharmacy, etc…are essential, but designate one family member to be responsible for such activities.
 
Please dispose of your gloves and masks properly by placing in a garbage container.  We cannot stress this enough.
 
Shop Rite in Fair Lawn is allowing seniors only to shop on Wednesdays between 7 am & 8 am.    Please remember to practice social distancing, wear a mask and limit shopping to only once per week. 
 
Continue to stay in touch and check-on family, friends and your elderly neighbors.
 
Continue to dine and support our local food establishments. A full list of operational restaurants and food establishments is on our website. 
 
All previously mentioned Borough facilities, buildings and services remain closed or suspended.  The Municipal Building is still closed to the public but is operating during normal business hours. Please contact the offices by phone or e-mail.
 
All playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts remain closed.  Our parks remain open; however group sports or activities are NOT permitted.   With the school spring break this week, We encourage all parents to make sure your children are not meeting up with their friends.  We understand this is difficult but by not allowing this to occur, we will defeat this. 
 
Overnight parking and time restricted parking remains suspended and will not be enforced until further notice.
 
All Municipal Court sessions in April are cancelled.
