On Saturday, April 4th, 2020, around 10:30 PM, members of the Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) were working gang suppression within the City of Pomona. Officers were in the area of Hamilton Blvd and Mission Blvd when they heard gun shots in the area. Officers began to saturate this area when they saw a known gang member who is on active probation enter a car with five additional gang members. As Officers approached the Vehicle they noticed in plain view a firearm on the floorboard, at the feet of the right front passenger who was later identified as Suspect Magana. Officers immediately detained all six gang members without incident. Officers rendered the firearm safe and discovered it was loaded with a high capacity magazine. This was a great observation by Officers as these gang members were loitering in a rival gang’s area.
Suspect Magana indicated to Officers the firearm belonged to him. Magana was arrested on the above indicated charges and booked at the Pomona City Jail.
The City Of Pomona is dedicated to combating gang violence and will continue to use all available resources to ensure the safety of our residents.
