Advisory

April 4, 2020 Coronavirus update from Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MAYOR GRASSO ON COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS

Saturday, April 4, 2020

GOVERNOR’S STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EFFECTIVE NOW THRU APRIL 30!

According to the county board of health dashboards, Burr Ridge now has 19 total cases: 14 on the DuPage side and 5 on the Cook side.  As our Bo Jackson reminds all of Burr Ridge: “The Cure is US.” Remember, it’s on US to heed the Governor’s SAH Order and practice social distancing.  Vigilance is the call to arms.  Practice social distancing, wash your hands with hot water and plenty of foaming soap – and stay home.

Our great police officers have been kept busy responding to various calls for service; some involving citizen complaints of persons failing to obey the Governor’s Executive Order. There have been no issues with Burr Ridge businesses complying with the Governor’s Order. Most of the issues have involved playground use at the various park district playgrounds. The playgrounds are closed – please keep your loved ones out of playgrounds.  Police activity reports also show that over the last two weeks of March, our officers responded to approximately 298 calls for service, including 9-1-1 calls, self-initiated activity, fire/ambulance assists, and citizen assists. Our officers report for duty each day without question.  Chief Madden and I am very proud of each and all of them.  They all help make Burr Ridge “a very special place.”

Chief Madden also asked me to remind all residents and business owners that bad-guys are still out there and not staying home. They too often come to Burr Ridge to steal cars.  These criminals target cars in parking lots and driveways.  They try the car doors and if they open, they hope you have left your key fob, too.  When you come out, your car will be gone.  And remember – if your car is unlocked in your driveway and you have a garage door opener in the car – these criminals may try to burglarize your home, too.  Lock your cars and take your key fobs with you.

Dao Japanese Steakhouse Sushi & Bar in County Line Square donated 100 masks to our police force today.  We will make sure they get to the medical personnel and first responders who need them. Thanks JoJo!

Leslie Bowman owns and operates the Design Bar in the Village Center.  Leslie and her friend Alison Victoria of Windy City Rehab have filled 500 care packages and given them to Chicago hospitals for their ER medical personnel.  Now, they are working on packages for our two local fire districts. If you want to donate items or money for gift cards, go to www.designbarhome.com.  100 % of donations are used for this generous program.  Thank you Leslie and Alison.

Buy gift cards from our Burr Ridge businesses, especially our retail shops.  Go to www.burr-ridge.gov to find a list of our restaurants and counter service food establishments that are providing take-out meals. Place your orders and help in this crisis.
