UPDATE 4/4, 10:00 AM – LA County Health Officer issues two orders clarifying Self-Quarantine or Self-Isolation. Assistance for small businesses. Guidance for use of face coverings.

Malibu City Hall is closed. However, essential City staff, including the Emergency Operations Team, are working. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated on March 13 and is operating 7 days a week. LA COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER REVISED ORDERS CLARIFY SELF-QUARANTINE AND SELF-ISOLATION
On April 1, the Los Angeles County Health Officer issued two Revised Orders to provide further clarification of what actions should be taken by individuals who have or are likely to have COVID-19, and actions to be taken by those who came in close contact with someone who has or may have COVID-19:

• Self-Isolation – All individuals who have been diagnosed with or are likely to have COVID-19 must isolate themselves until at least three days after resolution of a fever without the use of medication, and respiratory symptoms have improved AND at least seven days after the symptoms first appeared. They must also notify any individuals with whom they came in contact to self-quarantine for fourteen days from the date of contact. • Self-Quarantine – All household contacts, intimate partners, caregivers, and others who have been in close contact with a person diagnosed with or likely to have COVID-19 must quarantine themselves. A person is considered a close contact of someone with or likely to have COVID-19 if: A) they were within six feet of  that person for more than 10 minutes; OR B) had unprotected contact with the person, either through a cough or sneeze, sharing utensils exposure to saliva without wearing protective equipment. These apply if the contact was within 48 hours before that person’s symptoms began and until that person is no longer required to be isolated. STATE OFFERS ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTIONS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES IMPACTED BY COVID-19
Governor Gavin Newsom announced OnwardCa.org , a one stop resource for Californians impacted by job loss due to COVID-19 pandemic. The Governor also announced $50 million in loan guarantees for small businesses that may not be eligible for federal relief, as well as $17.8 million in new state initiatives to support California workers impacted by COVID-19. The allocation will come from Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds. Governor Newsom also issued an executive order protecting homes and small businesses from water shutoffs.

CDC, STATE, AND COUNTY PROVIDE GUIDANCE REGARDING THE USE OF FACE COVERINGS
The CDC, State of California, and the County of Los Angeles have all provided guidance regarding the use of face coverings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since studies show that many individuals can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms themselves, wearing a cloth face covering when going out for essential activities, such as shopping at grocery stores and pharmacies, can help prevent an individual from passing the virus to others. Face coverings are different than medical masks - medical masks and N-95 respirators should be reserved for frontline health care workers and first responders. Residents are urged to follow State and Los Angeles County "Stay at Home" orders, and continue to practice prevention measures, including washing hands frequently and practicing social distancing in all settings.

CORONAVIRUS PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE
The City of Malibu continues to monitor the status of the Coronavirus and implement measures to protect public health and safety and is doing everything possible to support vulnerable community members.  The City continues to follow the recommendations of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH), California Office of Emergency Services (CALOES) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and is taking steps to reduce the likelihood of community spread. 

All Residents should be complying with the State’s “Stay at Home” order, and leaving their homes only to conduct essential business, such as grocery shopping, medical appointments. Residents should also connect with neighbors, particularly seniors or those with underlying health conditions, to see if they need help in any way.
