This evening at about 5:20pm, Fairfield Police Dispatch began receiving calls regarding a shooting in the area of Dover Ave and E Tabor Ave. Responding officers arrived on scene to find two gunshot victims. Officers have closed off the area as a crime scene and have contacted the Investigations Bureau to take over the incident.
Please avoid the area as it will likely be closed for several hours.
The two victims have been identified as local residents ages 20 and 21, and have been transported to a local hospital. The 20-year-old has sustained moderate/non-life threatening injuries to an extremity and the 21-year-old has suffered life threatening injuries to the head.
Based on the initial investigation it appears this shooting may be gang related and was not a random act. A firearm has been recovered at the scene, but the suspect(s) have not been identified.
