04-03-2020 A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TOM GIORDANO
Dear Neighbors & Friends:
As another week is ending, I would like to thank all our residents who are doing their part whatever it may be to slow the spread of COVID-19.
I know that your efforts and sacrifice has added a great deal of stress to your daily lives. However, in all of this, all of you have risen to the challenge and have shown the best of who we are as individuals and who we are as a community.
Thank you all for adhering to guidelines on social distancing, working from home, schooling from home, keeping an eye on your elderly neighbors and supporting our businesses as best you can.
Thank you to our first responders: Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Waldwick Police Department, my brothers and sisters in the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department, DPW, Administrative Staff, and our Health Department for selflessly giving your time and efforts to help the residents of Waldwick.
The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce is working hard to support businesses during these difficult times. The Chamber has created a list of all the Chamber members that are currently open, either at their physical location or virtually.
Visit www.thewaldwickchamberofcommerce.com for a list of open businesses. Waldwick businesses need your support now more than ever.
This is an uncertain time that we never experienced before, but I am confident that we will make it through, together, as a community.
This week I have read and listened to the news on how certain persons or certain groups are being signaled out as ‘Hero’s”.
Here in Waldwick we have two “Hero’s” Staff SGT. Joseph D’Augustine and Police Officer Christopher Goodell who served our country, community and gave the ultimate sacrifice any person can give, laying down their lives for their neighbor.
With what is going on in our Borough, County, State, Country and World, I would like to recognize and add another “Hero” to Waldwick.
ALL OF YOU “THE RESIDENTS OF WALDWICK”
You have risen to the occasion, stepped up and made a difference in our borough. You have taken a crisis and turned it around, creating hope for the days ahead. Each one of you continues to come through when there is a need.
As Stan Lee once said: “A hero is someone who is concerned about other people's well-being, and will go out of his or her way to help them, even if there is no chance of a reward. That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a “Hero”.”
(WALT DISNEY)
Thank you Waldwick “Hero’s” for continuing to make the sunshine brighter in Waldwick and not letting the light of Waldwick burn out.
Your Friend Always
