IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MAYOR GRASSO ON COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS

Thursday, April 2, 2020

GOVERNOR’S STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EFFECTIVE NOW THRU APRIL 30 !!!

“The Cure is US!” – Bo Jackson

April is the month we win this fight. Commit your family, friends, neighbors, and yourself to staying home through April 30. I support the Governor’s bold act to insure social distancing from the coronavirus COVID-19 by ordering us to Stay-At-Home. There are now over 1 million documented cases of coronavirus, but as our Bo Jackson has championed: “THE CURE IS US!” You can see banners with this slogan on the two terraces of the County Line Road Bridge, at the entrance to the Downtown and at Purdie McCullough Park (Plainfield & County Line Road). Social distancing is the new norm. Lean in, and we will win this.

Brookdale reported today to me that the one resident that had tested positive remains fever-free.

I am pleased to inform you that Dr. Muhammad Hamadeh of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) Midwest Chapter has assembled a group of physicians (many who live in Burr Ridge) who are ready to volunteer their medical services. A complimentary hotline (630-474-4724) to this group has been established and is open 24 hours per day that you can call for medical advice or questions from your home – if you do not have a doctor of your own. A nurse or medical assistant will triage calls and the doctors will advise as needed via telephone or even video conference.

If you have to be tested for coronavirus, remind your doctor that Metro Infectious Disease Consultants of Burr Ridge has capacity to test at its tent on McClintock Drive. You can contact MIDC by calling (630) 655-8032 or (630) 654-4201. Do not just go to the tent site – you cannot be tested until you first call and advise them you have been given an order from a doctor for a test! If you do not have an order for a test, MIDC also can screen you to see if you qualify for one.

As I reported yesterday, staff is developing a possible economic recovery plan for our businesses that will complement state and federal plans. The overall objective is to better assure that our shops and stores there will weather this crisis. Buy gift cards from our Burr Ridge businesses, especially our retail shops. Go to www.burr-ridge.gov to find a list of our restaurants and counter service food establishments that are providing take-out meals. Place your orders and help in this crisis. Outreach to the Village-wide business community regarding available federal and state relief programs continues this week-be sure to visit our website to learn more about these programs.

Leslie Bowman owns and operates the Design Bar in the Village Center. Leslie and her friend Alison Victoria of Windy City Rehab have filled 500 care packages and given them to Chicago hospitals for their ER medical personnel. Now, they are working on packages for our two local fire districts. If you want to donate items or money for gift cards, go to www.designbarhome.com. 100 % of donations are used for this generous program. Thank you Leslie and Alison!
