SUSPECT:      Matthew Allen / 42 year-old Claremont resident

                       Pomona Police Department Patrol Division

NARRATIVE:

On 04-02-2020 at 0403 hours, a Pomona Police Department Patrol Sergeant was on patrol in 900 Block of E. First St when he located damage to a commercial building door.  When the sergeant initiated an investigation, he contacted the business owner who was standing to the front of the building.

Through the sergeants investigation, he learned that the business contained a large-scale marijuana grow and requested the assistance of the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
Although the use of marijuana is legal in the State of California, the cultivation and sales of Marijuana are illegal within city limits.

SIU Investigators arrived on scene and authored a search warrant for the location.

During this investigation, the team recovered in excess of 1,100 pounds of marijuana.

City of Pomona Code Enforcement “red tagged” the building rendering it unsafe and uninhabitable.
 
The Special Investigations Unit wants to ensure the community that they prioritize their investigations and address all crimes from city violations to serious, violent felonies.
