VICTIM: Tory Lawton, 36 years of age in 2014, Pomona resident
SUSPECT: Kyle Marende, 29 years of age, Eastvale resident
UNIT: Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit

On November 9th, 2014 Officers from the Pomona Police Department responded to a male victim (Tory Lawton) who was shot and killed in the area of LaVerne Ave. and Las Vegas Ave.
Detectives from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit conducted an investigation at that time. In 2019, Detectives learned of information that lead them to identify a suspect in the murder. On March 26, 2020, Detectives with the assistance of the Department’s Special Investigations Unit and the Pomona SWAT team, served a warrant at the home of Kyle Marende in Eastvale, CA. Marende was taken into custody and booked at the Pomona City Jail.
On March 30, 2020, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed one count of 187 PC – Murder with gang allegations on Marende for the killing of Tory Lawton.
