Current Initiatives and Updates

  • Frequently Asked Questions - The City has updated the Frequently Asked Questions page on the City’s Coronavirus page. The webpage features common questions related to the eviction moratorium, beach closures, older adult’s assistance, price gouging and more. You can easily find the page at citymb.info/covidfaq.  
  • Wastewater System Clogging - Residents should be reminded that the wastewater system is designed to carry wastewater and toilet paper only. Other items such as personal wipes, wet wipes, paper towels, and sanitary napkins, may clog the system and result in backups and possibly overflows. Wipes and other products clog pipes/pump, increase maintenance and can lead to sewer backups and other environmental and health concerns.
  • Local Volunteers Step-Up to Assist Older Adults – Leadership Manhattan Beach (LMB) has joined the resource delivery program (i.e. Senior Hotline) coordinated by the City to assist vulnerable populations in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The City is currently at capacity with volunteers, but is developing a list for future opportunities. Residents are encouraged to reach out to the City and Beach Cities Health District for additional volunteer opportunities.   • The Washington Post has published an article estimating the amount that individuals should expect to receives as a result of the CARES Act, the $2 trillion stimulus package to assist Americans during this time. Use the calculator to see how much you may receive.
  • The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed urgency motions at today’s Board meeting that:
  • The LA County Department of Public Health is developing COVID-19 testing sites. Testing sites are being made available as soon as they are staffed and properly equipped to test patients. The following sites have been announced today as possible testing locations.
    • High Desert Medical Group (Lancaster) – Mobile Testing (4/1)
    • Glendale Memorial Hospital
    • South Bay Galleria
    • Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale
    • Pomona Fairplex
    • Rose Bowl

Their health expertise and guidance are critical to the City’s planning and response to the coronavirus.
